Job Overview

Having expanded our offering across the UK, we are now looking to recruit a qualified pensions actuary for our Public Sector and Not for Profit Scheme Practice.

You will have experience developing and working with public sector and not for profit clients and experience in public sector tendering.

Applicants should have a proven track record for winning work and the ability to grow the Practice organically and through new client development.

Responsibilities

The key duties of the post are as follows:

  • Advise clients on actuarial valuations, accounting figures and various other matters.
  • To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • To project manage and peer review significant actuarial exercises.
  • To assist in the development of the Practice area and to champion specific areas of new knowledge.
  • To take the lead or assist in an exciting range of other projects, including new business development.
  • To liaise with client managers to ensure a professional actuarial service is provided and the advice is proactive, timely and fully focussed on client needs.

Reports to

Chief Actuary

Professional Requirements

The successful candidate will be given immediate responsiblity and will be expected to manage relationships with Trustees and Boards of public sector/ not for profit clients. You will also be expected to travel within the UK and Ireland.

You will be a qualified actuary with strong analytical skills, a sound technical knowledge, experience of public sector/ multi-employer/ not for profit pension issues and good interpersonal and client management skills.

You will be an effective communicator with strong client presentation skills (written and verbal), combined with a strong technical background, to meet the requirements of this role.

Educational Requirments

Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

At least three years post qualification experience and eight years actuarial experience with a deep understanding of UK pensions legislation and expertise of funding issues.

Salary (Range)

Negotiable for the right candiate and depending on experience.
