Emer graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in July 2014 with a First Class Honours degree in Actuarial Science and Risk Management having completed a 13 month placement as part of the degree with a well-known life insurance company in Dublin. She joined the Actuarial & Investment Function at Spence & Partners in Belfast in September 2014 where she studied for the professional exams and subsequently qualified as a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries in 2018.

Emer has experience applying knowledge of actuarial concepts and skills to tasks whilst sampling a diverse range of pensions work, encompassing both Trustee Advisory and Corporate Advisory sectors. Emer provides actuarial support to a range of Trustee and Corporate clients which involves preparing actuarial valuations and accounting disclosures for clients as well as involvement in bespoke pieces of actuarial work. During her time at Spence, she has built up experience in assisting organisations in the UK Not for Profit sector with reviews of their pension options Such exercises involve regular interaction and consultation with clients to ensure such complex exercises run smoothly. Emer is also experienced with managing projects and liaising with clients.

As an actuary at Spence and Partners, Emer has the opportunity to enhance her technical abilities and develop core actuarial competences on a daily basis whilst working in a challenging environment as part of a rapidly growing, innovative pension consulting firm.
