Matthew Leathem

Matthew is an actuary with almost 10 years of experience in the pensions industry. Throughout his time at Spence & Partners, Matthew has been involved in advising our clients on a wide range of issues. This includes supporting our Scheme Actuaries in delivering advice to Trustees of defined benefit schemes on issue such as scheme funding and liability management, as well as advising sponsoring employers on areas such as accounting for pension costs.

Matthew is particularly interested in the technical side of the actuarial career and has contributed significantly to the development of many of our services. Most notably Matthew has been heavily involved in the development of our investment advisory and fiduciary management services. In addition to this he has helped develop a number of our actuarial processes including stress testing and stochastic asset liability modelling.

Before joining Spence & Partners in June 2014, Matthew had previously worked for another pensions consultancy in Belfast and an offshore actuarial consultancy. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2016. Matthew holds a first class honours degree in Actuarial Scien
