It’s good to hear that by the time of their launch Personal Accounts won’t be called Personal Accounts. That’ll be the pension problem solved then!! As if pensions aren’t confusing enough we’re going to launch another type of pension and then halfway through the process change its name!! Is it just me or has the world gone mad?

The Government will delay the full implementation of personal accounts until October 2015 from 2012 with the entrance requirements being spread over 3 years, with large employers joining first. It has also reduced the consultation period on auto-enrolment from 12 weeks to 6 weeks which might be a touch taxing given that the proposals extend to 200 pages!!
I’ve been doing some catching up on “pensions news”.
The latest annual report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggests an increasing number of people contributing to work placed pension schemes. Interesting, I’d like to see how the 2009 figures look but encouraging nonetheless. Read more »
