Andrew joined Spence & Partners in 2013 as an actuarial trainee in the Actuarial and Investment Function and now works in the Consultancy Function.
Prior to joining Spence, Andrew obtained a First-Class Honours degree in Law from Queen’s University Belfast and practised as a barrister at the Northern Ireland Bar for seven years. While maintaining his qualified barrister status, he went on to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science in January 2017 and qualified as an Associate Actuary in December 2020. Andrew continues to progress through his fellowship exams with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
As part of the Actuarial and Investment team Andrew gained experience working for private pension schemes, mainly in the provision of actuarial services to trustee and corporate clients. Andrew also worked in the Not-for-Profit Sector Function of the business, assisting a variety of organisations across the UK with reviews of their pension options, including the provision of liability management exercises.
Andrew has now taken up a new role in the Consultancy Function, where he can apply his actuarial knowledge and legal skills in a trusteeship role, with a view to qualifying as an accredited professional trustee.
